Growing up, as much as I loved to read, I never once considered that writing could be a part of my future. Thanks to the loving dedication of teachers who saw past the math and science spark in me, I learned to love reading, and to appreciate the power of the written word to teach, to engage, to inspire, and to unlock doors. Today I am an educator who finds joy in sharing my love of mathematics and science with children through my writing.

I have been a high school math and physics teacher for more than 20 years, both in the traditional brick and mortar school setting and in the online world. I find that teaching online requires me to communicate in writing in ways that I had never considered from the classroom. 

 

I am married to Lisa, the love of my life who also happens to be a trained pastry chef, and we have two college-aged children. I play a lot of tennis, travel each summer to Italy as a tour guide for NCAA Basketball teams, speak Italian fluently, and have made it my quest to sample every flavor of gelato known to man. So far, so good!

 

My first book, The Everything Kids Experiments Book was published in 2001 and has been a best-seller ever since. The followup, The Everything Kids Magical Science Experiments Book was published in 2007. In 2012, I finally realized my dream of publishing the book that got this all started, Forcing Out: A Guide to Better Physics Fitness. In 2015, my first picture book, Fibonacci Zoo, was released by Arbordale Publishing.
